John Suverkrup and John Hook first subdivided and started developing Cedar Glen, originally known as Camp Comfort, in 1916. Suverkrup's sons continued to own the town until the 1980s. Lots originally sold for $15 each and were spread out on each side from Hook Creek Road, which to this day extends down into the valley towards Hook's Creek and one of the most enjoyed national forest recreation areas in our mountains.
